John J. Flanagan - Senate Majority Leader
Senator John J. Flanagan represents the Second Senate District, which includes the entire Town of Smithtown and portions of both the Town of Brookhaven and the Town of Huntington. He was first elected to represent this portion of Suffolk County in 2002 and overwhelmingly reelected in 2004, 2006, 2008 2010 and 2012.
During his time in the Senate, Senator Flanagan has been a constant leader in the fight to reduce the tax burden Long Islanders face – an effort he began when he served during his sixteen years in the New York State Assembly prior to his service in the Senate. Senator Young has an established record of civic, professional and volunteer achievements.
Elected to the Senate in 2005, she immediately took on a leadership post as Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, working to strengthen New York State’s top industry. She also Co-Chaired the Administrative Regulations Review Commission, focused on reducing regulations and red tape that impede job growth.
Currently, Senator Young Chairs the Senate Standing Committee on Housing, Construction and Community Development, which works to develop legislation to help revitalize communities; assist families in buying and preserving their homes; and create safe, affordable rental housing. Marty Golden - Regional Chair
Senator Martin J. Golden (R,C) was elected to represent Brooklyn’s 22nd Senate District in 2002. The 22nd State Senate District includes the neighborhoods of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend and parts of Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park and Midwood.
Senator Marty Golden has established himself as one of the most influential lawmakers in the City and State of New York. Senator Golden has authored over 222 laws most notably in the areas of public safety, tax cuts, economic development, and senior citizen issues.
Marty Golden is a retired New York City Police Officer who received numerous awards during his ten years with the Police Department. Marty was forced to retire in 1983, after suffering a serious injury while making a narcotics arrest. full bio >

Mike Nozzolio - Regional Chair
Senator Nozzolio was born and raised in Seneca Falls, the son of Anna and Albert F. Nozzolio. Senator Nozzolio and his wife, Rosemary, live in Seneca County.
Educated in local schools, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Agricultural Economics from Cornell University. Senator Nozzolio also earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Syracuse University College of Law.
Senator Nozzolio is currently Chairman of the New York State Senate Codes Committee, as well as Vice Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. The Codes Committee is one of the most important and active committees in the State Senate and considers issues and legislation relating to New York’s criminal and civil justice system. He is also a member of both the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Rules Committee, which have jurisdiction over the State budget and all legislation before the State Senate. He is also the senior Senator representing the Monroe County delegation in the New York State Senate. full bio >
